YM's second string dropped 3 points for the second time this season after having the lions share of possession but failing to convert a host of chances and suffering the counter threat that always exists in an encounter of this kind.
The Rapids got off to a flying start with Sidwell flashing a shot across goal after good work from MOM Nangla, with Rolf and Ilsley always a danger from set pieces. YM conceeded the sloppiest of goals on 20 minutes when a miscued corner rolled along the goaline and somehow ended up in the YM net when it appeared impossible. This galvanised the Rapids in to action and it was Nangla again causing problems in the Sonning box when he was tugged back, earning his side a penalty. Sidwell cooly converted and the rest of the half was an even battle with neither side gaining a foothold on the match.
The second period was all YM and the home side battered the Sonning goal. Alan Ilsley, Woodrow, Rolfe and Nangla all going close. Sidwell flashed a 25 yard effort inches wide but it was the away side that hit YM on the break with some poor defending allowing the Sonning forward in to lob over Phillips and put the away side in front. Nangla thought he had squared the match after crashing a shot against the fram of the goal and the final chance to rescue a point fell to Chris Leach who's headed effort was well saved by the Sonning no one.
Sidwell said 'Its so dissapointing to have the whole game and come away with nothing but thats life in a higher division for you. I thought we played really well but the finishing needs to be better. I guess we can take something from the fact half their side said we deserved more!'
