YM's second string got back to winning ways with a comfortable win at Woodford Park on Saturday. Having suffered their first loss in the league this season, manager Paul O Boyle welcomed back Chris Leach, Steve Woodrow, Tim Sidwell, Steve Daly and Mark Lemm to bolster the ranks along with new YM signing Jamie Froud who made an outstanding impact on the game from the off.
Wideman Lewis Evans got YM off to a great start when Froud sent the winger clear with a defence splitting pass and cooly slotted home after beating 2 men. Front men Steve Daly and Steve Woodrow then went close with further chances before Sidwell crashed home a spectacular free kick from 30 yards that left the keeper with no chance. With Sidwell and Froud pulling the midfield strings it seemed only a matter of time before the 3rd arrived but the home side rear guard stood strong till the interval with Bullet and Dave Rolfe both going close from set pieces.
The second half got off to a flyer for YM when Bullett floated a delightful cross from the right that Sidwell made no mistake with and cooly looped his header over the stranded Sonning number 1. Woodrow then cashed in and netted YM's 4th beofre Sonning came back in to preceedings and picked up a goal that could have made life uncomfortable when a corner fell to a Soning striker 3 yards out, who dispatched the ball in to the YM net. As the game wore on the home side pushed for the all important 2nd goal but to no avail and the game was sealed on 75 minutes when Daly stabbed home from a Mark Lemm knockdown. MOM Froud then sealed the 3 points with a cool finish from 20 yards to cap a fine performance for the youngster.
O Boyle started 'It was important to get back to winning ways after last week and we did it convincingly today. Jamie Froud was outstanding in the middle and its great to have such young players coming through the ranks.'
