Match Report Reading YMCA 4 Rabsons Rovers 1

After several postponements Reading YMCA finally met Henley Town in the Reading Senior Cup on Tuesday evening and it was the Reading League side who earned a quarter final spot with a spirited 1-0 win.
It was YM's 1st ever win over a Hellenic side and they did so without in-form duo Chris Lemm and Johnny Adey as well as manager Mark Lemm who were all absent due to work committments.

YM dominated the 1st half both physically and with some superb possession football.  Stand in player manager Drew Tipper started one move on the halfway line and after several passes the ball found Tipper again on the edge of the box where he fired in a goalbound shot only to see the Henley keeper make a superb save. The Henley keeper also had to be alert to keep out a Sam Jennings effort whilst at the other end Henley hit a post from close range after a deep cross.

But YM were imperious in defence whilst the industrious Sam Cripps never let Henley have a moment's peace in the midfield.
The breakthrough came just before half-time when Jennings received the ball and took a touch before blasting a 30-yard shot into the top corner.

YM were under more pressure in the 2nd half but Henley created very little save for one good opportunity that was screwed wide.  This was mainly down to the superb work rate from the YM players as they chased down everything and were tigers in the tackle.
The scoreline remain unchanged and YM ran out deserved winners.
Tipper said "We had 11 warriors out there today and every player was fantastic including Luke Kasonde when he came on.
We played some really good stuff in the 1st half but when it comes down to a battle we love it and we just wanted it more in the end."
