Reading YMCA kicked off the defence of their title with a hard fought 2-1 over newly named Theale.  Both sides had numerous chances in the 1st half but the major talking points were a strong penalty appeal for Theale that was waved away and also a Theale shot that was adjudged not to have gone over the line despite Theale protests.

Theale took the lead early in the 2nd half through a solo effort from Ashad Beg but YM stepped up a gear and equalized when Martin Abery played in Drew Tipper and then took the lead when Luka Kasonde set up Johnny Adey who finished in superb style.

Chances continued to flow for both teams but the score stayed at 2-1.
