Unity 3 Reading YMCA 2
Johnny Adey

Unity ended YM's 5-match unbeaten run with a deserved win despite YM scoring in 2nd minute of the game.

YM welcomed back Nader Edmunds for his 1st appearance of the season but were without Tristam Dennis, Chris Lemm and long term injury victim Jason Wagner.  YM made the perfect start when Johnny Adey exploited space down the right flank before sending in a cross that drifted over the head of stand-in keeper Michael Mashelle. However, the goal proved to be a curse for YM as the visitors relaxed and Unity were spurred into action.

Unity dominated for the remainder of the half and equalized when a superb Goday Touray free-kick rocketed into the top corner.  YM were then stunned as Unity took the lead when Mussaquoi ran on to a through ball to slot past keeper Chris Rackley.

YM improved after the break and without really looking like scoring before a seemingly harmless cross was not dealt with by Mashelle allowing Adey the faintest of touches into the net.  Unity were not discouraged though and soon regained the lead when a great cross from Micah Oboh was knocked in at the back post.

YM laid siege on the Unity goal in the final minutes and twice had clear headers from point blank range only to send the opportunities over the bar but this would have been rough justice on a Unity side who deserved the points.
