Reading YMCA cruised into the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup 4th Rd for the first time since 1974 with an emphatic 7-1 defeat of North Berks side Childrey Utd.
YM were 2-0 up within 10 minutes with goals from Sam Jennings and Drew Tipper before Childrey pulled a goal back after a goalmouth scramble. Childrey then had a penalty appeal turned down which, had it been given, might have made the game interesting but Childrey were never in the game from that point with the pace of Johnny Adey out wide and the workrate of the YM midfield too much for the Oxfordshire side.
YM's Rob Lee made it 3 with his first of the season whilst Jennings and Tipper both netted again to move the half-time score to 5-1.
The 2nd half was more subdued with alot of the game fought out in the midfield although Childrey were marginally the more threatening of the 2 sides. But Childrey were running out of ideas by the 75 minute mark and YM bagan to create chances at will. Dave Givens had a couple of good chances before MOM Jennings claimed a hat-trick with a confident penalty after he had been brought down by the keeper.
It was then left to Naz Edmunds to wrap up the scoring when he slotted home when clean through.
