YM Rapids poor end of season form continued with a 4-2 home loss to basement side Hurst. With injuries and absentees, Boss Tim Sidwell was down to the bare bones 11 wth just himself (unfit) on the bench as Hurst came looking for potential relegation salvation.

The game opened up at a fair pace with the away side ahssling and hurrying YM but the young men slowly got in to the swing of things with the unlikely pairing of Steve Woodrow and Mark Ilsley pulling the midfield strings. The returning Dan Newman was also starting to cause problems and went close on 15 minutes after being played through by Woodrow. Dave Rolfe was in commanding form at the back and YM looked assured. Newman slotted home the opening goal on 20 minutes when a deep cross from Leach found the striker alone at the back post and he made no mistake. The Rapids then took their foot off the gas and allowed hurst back in to the game with some poor passing, gifting away possesion though Phillips can count himself unlucky after a looping shot caught the YM stopper off his line to level the scores.

The second period became a scrappy affair with the ref blowing every 2 minutes and neither team able to take control of the match. Dan Sutton and Newman both had half chances but YM went 2-1 down on 60 minutes when a Hurst forward slotted home. Sidwell then came on to try and create, and immediately slotted Sutton through but the Hurst keeper was lively and snuffed out the chance. Hurst then broke and made it 3-1 as YM looked for a way back in. with 5 minutes remaining the Rapids were gifted a lifeline when the Hurst keeper gave the ball straight to Dan Newman who rounded him and slotted home to show the kind of finishing YM have lacked all season. YM poured forward looking for a late equaliser but were hit on the break when a Hurst player unleashed a shot in to the top corner to seal the points.

Sidwell said 'yet another week where we had a lot of possession but failed to kill a side off. Credit to Hurst they worked very hard and didnt allow us space, but we should be beating teams like this based on the players we have'
